Summary: Blake was the lone survivor of a bus crash when he was a child, and because of this, he is very levelheaded. When Blake's irresponsible brother, Quinn, runs away to midnight carnival, it's up to him to retrieve him, having to face his old fears as he does.

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
Summary: The allegedly true diary of a girl who spirals into a drug addiction after trying LSD at a party. She transforms into a responsible girl with normal teenage problems, into a person with no direction in her life and no control of her addiction.

Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
Summary: Like the previously mentioned Crank, Impulse is written entirely in verse format. It is the story of three teenagers landed in a mental health care facility for attempting suicide.

In the Forests of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Summary: Risika - formally Rachel - is a three hundred year old vampire and there is hardly anything left in the world that interests her. One night she comes home to find a black rose on her pillow from the same vampire who murdered her brother. The book rotates from the past to the present, showing how Risika becomes and a vampire, and her hunt to find the vampire that killed her brother.

Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters
Summary: Holland has a very promising life: she has a good looking boyfriend and she can choose from some of the top schools in the country. When she meets proud lesbian Cece, she begins questioning her own sexuality. As the two form a relationship, and their secret is exposed, Holland learns who she can really trust as people turn their backs on her.

Killing Britney by Sean Olin

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

The Party Room: Get it Started by Morgan Burke
Summary: The Party Room is a club for teens to dance and drink and socialize. Life is perfect until Kristen's best friend Sam leaves with a man that nobody knows and winds up dead the next day.

Speak Laurie Halse Anderson

This is a high school story told with Melinda's humorously cynical voice, as she struggles with painful memories and her own unwillingness to speak.

Sweetblood by Pete Hautman and Brooke Williams
Summary: Lucy is a diabetic with the theory that vampires are actually undiagnosed diabetics. She shares these opinions via the internet and becomes enraptured with an intelligent man interested in her theories.

Thirsty M.T. Anderson
Summary: Chris is becoming a vampire and he can't control his need for blood. He meets a man named Chet who offers to revert him back into a human but for a price.

Tithe by Holly Black

Uglies by Scott Westerfield

Summary: After Tom is attacked by a bear during a camping trip, he is found and taken in by a family living in the woods. But something is weird about the family, specifically their sixteen year old daughter, who seems to be trying to warn him of something.

Witch-Hunt by Marc Anderson
Summary: This book is an examination of the Salem Witch Trials. It goes through the events and theories of the Trials, discounting some rumors and bringing lesser known facts into light.

You Don't Know Me David Klass
Summary: In this novel, John talks about life from his own cynical perspective, silently naming and demeaning the people around him. His mother is unaware of the abuse he suffers at the hand of his stepfather, until one night when things are taken too far.
